A server-grade platform with management, redundancy and service logic depending on the exact configuration.
Can be configured around workload, budget, availability and warranty requirements.
As a refurbished server, it provides access to higher-class hardware at a more rational cost.
More suitable than consumer or entry-level equipment when the system must run continuously.
HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 is a 1U server for organizations that need high compute density but want to stay within the HPE ecosystem and iLO management model. It is close in role to Dell PowerEdge R640, but the choice often depends on the platform the company already uses.
The model is suitable for virtualization nodes, internal applications, databases with reasonable local storage, management services, private cloud layers and environments that need more servers in limited rack space.
As a refurbished server, the DL360 Gen10 makes sense when the customer wants enterprise class but not necessarily the latest platform. The refresh process should focus on stability, firmware state, iLO capabilities and warranty.
The compromise is the standard 1U compromise: less internal volume, fewer expansion options than DL380 Gen10 and higher cooling demands.
For environments where ProLiant and iLO are the organizational standard.
For building several similar 1U nodes.
When the workload is compute-first and does not require large local storage.
When a compact enterprise platform is needed for backup infrastructure.
This map shows which applications HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen10 fits best as a refurbished server and where another form factor, configuration or more specialized platform may be the better choice. The ratings describe the model role, while the final decision should still follow CPU, memory, controller, drive, networking and warranty requirements.
Strong 1U virtualization host for HPE environments, especially when multiple compact nodes are needed.
Suitable as a compute node in private cloud or internal cloud infrastructure with a separate storage layer.
Can include local drives depending on configuration, but it is not storage-first; the DL380 Gen10 is more flexible for that.
Good as a backup proxy, management server or smaller repository; large backup storage favors a 2U model.
The 1U format works well for branches, local racks and edge compute roles.
Suitable for CPU compute nodes, but not ideal for many GPUs or large internal expansion.
Can be part of an HA architecture for important services, but should not be the only point of failure.
Good for moderate databases, especially with shared storage or an external array.
Very suitable for web, API and application nodes in HPE infrastructure.
Useful for CPU inference and light ML tasks; not a specialized GPU training server.
Makes sense as a compute node, not as the main storage-heavy analytics server.
Suitable for edge and cache roles where compact rack footprint and management matter.
Good for corporate mail, gateway and messaging roles with proper sizing.
Very practical for labs, staging, CI/CD and test VMs.
Can host game server processes, but it is not designed for graphics workloads.
Suitable for local processing and gateway roles in IoT environments.
Suitable for collaboration tools with a shared or external storage layer.
Good for management and analytics layers, not as a large video-storage server.
Very suitable for load balancer, proxy, gateway and network services.
Suitable for moderate streaming with a separate storage layer.
Good for ERP/CRM components, application servers and VDI compute roles in standardized HPE environments.
Very suitable for RAM cache services when enough memory is installed.
Suitable for shared folders and internal file services when raw data capacity is not the main requirement.
Very suitable for DNS, DHCP, Active Directory/LDAP and other compact infrastructure services.

DL360 Gen10 is the compact HPE compute model. Compared with DL380 Gen10, it is denser and uses less rack space, while the DL380 is more flexible for storage and expansion.
Not ideal if you need many local drives, several larger PCIe cards or easier physical access inside the chassis.
Choose the form factor by role: 1U for compute density, 2U for balance and storage or expansion, and four-socket 2U only when scale-up architecture brings real value.
Buying a refurbished enterprise server makes the most sense when the machine has been checked, configured and prepared for real business use. In that case, used servers become refurbished servers that can be a practical, predictable and professional alternative to new budget systems or much more expensive new enterprise configurations.
Is it suitable for virtualization?
Yes, if the exact configuration is sized for the number of virtual machines, memory needs and storage profile.
What should be specified for a quote?
CPU, RAM, drive bay format, controller, drives, networking, management license, power supplies, rails and warranty.
Why choose a refurbished server?
Because enterprise class often provides better manageability, redundancy and service logic than a new budget model.
